Indeed! And there’s a bit of a story behind it (naturally)…
It all started when my pending divorce was near to completion (June of 2012). I made plans with a few close girlfriends and my mom to celebrate the “escape” from Gravity’s clutches. This celebration included a Girl’s Only float trip down a local river, a cookout, and a custom cake featuring airbrushed flames and “Happy Divorce – Free at Last!” written on it (kinda hard to see the flames in the pic)…
The day of celebration came. My High School Best Friend gave me a small gift. When I opened it, there sat a silver “infinity” style ring (the top had a twist) with a quote that read: “The Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins with One Step” (by Lao Tzu from the Tao te Ching). I don’t know if she realized just how impactful and powerful this quote was… but, then again, maybe she did?! Either way, not only do I still have that ring (almost 13 years later)… I also had it written in Kanji and tattooed on my calves.
It is – by FAR – the most treasured, thought of, and vastly used quote in my repertoire to date.
