43.5 – For Last Week’s MM:
Everything that matters most in life will sometimes bore you.
Your marriage will bore you.
Your career will bore you.
Your kids will bore you.But boredom isn’t a sign that you chose wrong. It’s a signal that you have chosen to make something more important than your own momentary pleasure. It’s the hidden fee that comes with purpose and meaning.
Where in your life are you chasing excitement instead of depth? How has that worked out for you?
What have you stayed with long enough for it to become meaningful?
Pick one thing that bores you but matters to you. Recommit to it this week. Reply and tell me why you stayed.
I guess my relationship with The Boyfriend is where I’ve been chasing excitement instead of depth. But… given everything that’s happened over the 2 years we’ve been together, it’s been difficult AF to get any kind of excitement OR depth from him. The addiction rules all things, unfortunately. And, until we get past that to a point where he’s able to BE vulnerable and trusting… I just have to sit in the boring and wait. I truly feel it’s worth the wait and effort it will take to get there, though. So… yeah.
44.0 – Nobody Is Watching
Two things for you to think about
There is no amount of information that will make you feel “ready.”
There is no amount of approval that will make you feel confident.
There is no amount of success that will make you feel entirely fulfilled.
Life is about just doing the thing anyway.
“I lived so carefully, thinking someone was watching. But the stage was empty, the audience never came.” – Osamu Dazai
Reflect: Then consider sharing this thought with others.
Two things for you to ask yourself
What would you do if nobody was watching? Why do you care?
Recommended: Use these as journaling prompts for the week.
One thing for you to try this week
Stop waiting for approval, and just do the thing. Reply and let me know how that feels.
Remember: Small changes lead to lasting breakthroughs.
As for how I’m doing… I finished EMDR today and feel like there’s some things coming up from under the surface. The Anhedonia Incident has been long and difficult. We still aren’t done with it, but I can feel the progress happening in small incriments.
Oh, and the Disclosure for the Recovery Program is FINALLY done. It went better than I expected, but we haven’t had the time to really sit down and discuss it. Hopefully, we can do that tomorrow at some point, since he will be off work. He hasn’t slept well, though, so… we shall see…
