29.5 – For Last Week’s MM:
Goals are the actions you think about but don’t do.
Habits are the actions you do but don’t think about.Better goals require a lot of effort and change little.
Better habits will change everything. What do you already do that moves you towards your goals? What moves you further from them?
Instead of setting a new goal this week, change one small habit—when you work, what you eat, how you rest—and notice what happens.
Aaaaand… I’m late for this again, back-dating so it looks like I didn’t completely forget and then have a totally intense Ketamine therapy session and become mostly useless the rest of yesterday. 😅
I’ll definitely say that I was unable to complete this activity (see “totally intense Ketamine therapy session” and “Ketamine Therapy 1, 2 & 3) the past week. Oops!
30.0 – You’re Not Just Distracted
Two things for you to think about
Your distractions aren’t random.
What you reach for when things get uncomfortable tells you what you’re trying not to feel.
Avoidance feels like relief in the moment, but will only strengthen the feeling you’re trying to escape.
Reflect: Then consider sharing this thought with others.
Two things for you to ask yourself
What do you reach for when you feel uncomfortable? What are you trying to escape?
Recommended: Use these as journaling prompts for the week.
One thing for you to try this week
Next time you reach for a distraction, pause and write down what you’re trying to avoid. Then reply and tell me what you notice.
Remember: Small changes lead to lasting breakthroughs.
As for how I’m doing… oddly neutral?! I believe the K-therapies are doing some work deep down in my brain/mind, even if I don’t fully comprehend what that is. I’ve come to realize (and be informed) that the first 3 sessions were probably designed to give my poor decades-traumatized/abused brain and overactive nervous system a really deep and restorative break. I would hazard a guess that the last session did a lot of that, as well, but the intensity of it was even greater that the first session. I believe “dissociative repair” was mentioned. I really had to purposefully rest and hydrate yesterday, because the effects of that session didn’t wear off until well into the evening/night/sleep.
All the same, I probly won’t have much for next week’s Monday Mark, either, but I’ll try to do better about posting it. Ciao!
