51.5 – For Last Week’s MM:
The smartest people you know aren’t the ones with the best answers. They’re the ones still sitting with questions everyone else gave up on years ago.
When did you last sit with a question instead of rushing to answer it? What are you afraid you’d find if you kept asking?
Pick one question you already answered, and sit with the possibility that you might be wrong. Reply and let me know what you find.
In lieu of last week’s MM, I’ll go ahead and piggyback off that and the more recent “He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not” post, because it’s relevant to this topic.
I suppose the question of “does he love me” is the one that has been on my mind for quite some time, hence the inability to make any decisions regarding it. But really, I need to be asking myself if I love him. My biggest fear in answering this right now is that I’ll find that I don’t, and then what? I’m not ready to give up on him or this relationship, when we haven’t even gotten past the addiction, let alone given the relationship a chance to flourish during that transition or afterwards.
As for something I’ve already answered… my brain is on fumes (will explain at the end). So imma skip that for now.
52.0 – You’re Hiding the Best Part of Yourself
Three things for you to think about
The version of yourself you perform for other people is always less interesting than the one you’re hiding. It just never feels that way from the inside.
The parts of yourself you think are “too much” for people are usually the parts they’d actually connect with. And the parts you think they’d like to see are the parts they’ve seen a thousand times already.
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is a great accomplishment.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Reflect: Then consider sharing this thought with others.
Three things for you to ask yourself
What would people see if you stopped performing?
What about you do you think is “too much”? And why?
Recommended: Use these as journaling prompts for the week.
One thing for you to try this week
Let someone see the part of yourself you usually hide. Reply and tell me what happens.
Remember: Small changes lead to lasting breakthroughs.
As for how I’m doing… it’s Thursday and I’m back-dating (once again, oops), but this time I have a completely valid reason! We went to Canada to visit The Boyfriend’s sister, her hubby and kids, and his dad and his wife. The travel was a LOT better than it has been in the past – with regards to The Boyfriend’s attitude (i.e. he made good on his promise not to take it out on me). Can’t say I enjoyed the 2am leaving to get there, or the massive delay in [f*cking] Florida, which resulted in us missing our bus ride from Buffalo, NY to Niagara Falls, Ontario. I’ll probably wait until later or tomorrow to upload some trip photos, as well. And maybe give more details on the trip itself and the [utter shite] return. Let’ sjust say that we didn’t get in bed until 3am this morning, hence the brain dumbs.
So, yeah… until next time!
